General notes

1. There are three categories, Elite, Intermediate and Novice.

2. Competitions are held over two days, prelims on Tuesday 12th August 2008, second round and final judging on Thursday 14th August 2008.

3. Category start times may be staggered to reduce jury waiting time.

4. The top 36 will qualify for the second day plus any artists which the judges’ feel should be put forward on merit.

5. The artist must use the same medium for both rounds i.e. airbrush, brush and sponge or mixed.

6. Artists may work with 1 assistant. N.B. Models may not paint themselves or a second model. No more assistants are allowed for hairstyling etc. Any failure to comply and you will be disqualified.

7. It’s up to the artist how many models they would like to paint with in the time frame of each round.

8. Only body painting products are to be used for any painting on the body. We ask you to take care of your model.

9. Any brand of body paint or make up product may be used for the body and attachments and special effects.

10. If anything is used or bought into the judging area, which is not allowed, 30 points will be deducted from your total score, on that day of judging. N.B. If the violation too big you may be disqualified.

11. The Jury includes professionals from within the industry.

12. The criteria the judges use to mark artists are:-

a. Idea and originality, use of colour ................................... 1 – 9 points

b. Interpretation of the theme .......................................... 1 – 9 points

c. Quality, technique, difficulty of realisation.......................... 1 – 12 points

13. In the interest of fairness at the end of each day, the top and bottom score given to each artist from the jury will be deducted. Remaining scores are totalled to give the ranking of the day.

14. Results, from both days will count together, in addition to the final judging when the jury will look at photo examples of the artists painting for each of the two days and score with a maximum of 5 points for each finalist. The winners and final rankings are then placed accordingly.

15. The judges and their helpers walk around during the day to look at your work. These helpers will be fully conversant with the rules and inform the judges if anyone breaks the rules.

16. You are allowed to prepare the model's hairstyle before the beginning of the contest. N.B. No use of any colour, base, make up or attachments before the official start as this will incur a 30 point penalty for that day.

17. The minimum age for participants is 18 years.

When you register we may ask you for your portfolio or photos of your work. The photos will be shown to the judges as we accept limited numbers of artists.
